PLACEMENT AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS
Audition Today!
High school and middle school instrumentalists are encouraged to submit an audition application for placement in the MJI Youth Jazz Program. This audition opportunity is open to all instrumentalists, free of charge. Applications will be accepted until all spots are filled. We welcome applications at any time.
Current and past MJI students do not need to complete the application form or submit an audition video. Rather, please contact us at mji@milwaukeejazzinstitute.org to let us know what program you would like to participate in.
STEP 1: Complete the Online MJI Youth Ensemble Application Form
After your application form is received, we will email a link to a Dropbox folder where you can upload your placement audition video.
STEP 2: Record and Upload Your Placement Audition Video
Interested students should submit a short video of one piece (5 min. max) that demonstrates their technical ability and jazz skills. Accompaniment is permitted but not required. Drummers should demonstrate the ability to play various styles and tempos (swing, bossa nova, etc.).
Each applicant will receive a Dropbox link from MJI where the video can be uploaded after the application form has been received.
STEP 3: Pay the Tuition Fee
Students will be notified at the end of May regarding placement in the MJI Youth Programs. Once your placement is confirmed, use the links below to pay. Financial assistance is available to those with demonstrated need. To request a financial assistance form, send an email to mji@milwaukeejazzinstitute.org.

YOUTH PROGRAM REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
Each two-hour session includes an ensemble rehearsal and a jazz theory/improvisation class.

All rehearsals and classes are held at the Jazz Gallery (926 E Center Street, Milwaukee, WI 53212).
