
About the Ensemble
The Maiden Voyage Ensemble is for high school students. There are openings in this ensemble for:
woodwinds (i.e. sax, clarinet)
brass (i.e. trumpet, trombone)
guitar
piano
bass
drums
SUMMER TERM
Mondays from 5 to 7 p.m.
Term fee: $198 (6-weeks)
All rehearsals and classes are held at the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts (926 E Center Street, Milwaukee, WI 53212).
Spring term start date: Monday, July 13, 2026
No rehearsal dates: NA
Last rehearsal: Monday, August 17, 2026
Final performance: Thursday, August 20 @ Jazz at The Vine (The Vine Humboldt, 3000 S Howell Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53207)
*Students who have been invited to join this ensemble should complete the Registration Form.
*Students who have joined this ensemble should pay the term fee before the second rehearsal of the term.
*Please notify us as soon as you become aware of a schedule conflict. We need time to find a sub in order to hold a constructive rehearsal in your absence.

Your Instructor
Clay Schaub
Clay Schaub has been performing music professionally for over twenty years. He has worked on the New York City jazz scene as a skilled sideman and has performed regularly with Greg Ruggiero, Gregory Tardy, Bob Mover, Frank Morgan, Joe Bonner, Luisa Sobral, Igor Lumpert, Christine Hoberg, and Uros Markovic.
Clay graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Denver in 2004, and received a Downbeat Award for Outstanding Big Band Arrangement that same year. He studied with Ken Walker, performed with Eric Gunnison, Alan Hood, & Frank Morgan, was featured at the Estes Park Jazz Festival, was faculty at the Rocky Mountain Vocal Jazz and Northwest College Jazz camps, and was the bassist for several Denver Civic Theater Productions.
Moving to Milwaukee in January of 2013, Clay carries on making music with friends, composing, teaching, and raising a family. He finds great joy in it.
