Jessie Hauck
1937 – 1995
Jessie Hauck (vocalist) was born Jessie Mae Anderson in Osceola, Arkansas, on December 5, 1937. She later lived in Springfield, IL, and St. Louis, MO, where she worked as a jazz vocalist. She married Theodore Hauck and later married Howard Lovejoy. Jessie moved to Milwaukee in the 1970s, where she taught at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and performed all over the Midwest. She often worked with Manty Ellis, who described her as a “phenomenal singer.” Jessie was tragically killed in a car accident on May 23, 1995.
Sheri Hauck, the youngest of her eight children, is an accomplished vocalist based in Nashville, Tennessee.
