Lakota’s

606 West Wisconsin Avenue

Lakota’s, a restaurant and cocktail lounge on the ground floor of the 22-story Mariner Tower—an Art Deco-style building at 606 West Wisconsin Avenue—featured comedy shows, rhythm and blues acts such as Louis Jordan, country and western artists, and jazz bands from the late 1930s to the mid-1950s. Milwaukee-born vocalist Jackie Cain got her start there. The building, now known as the Wisconsin Tower, houses 74 condominium units.
