Jazz Gallery

The Jazz Gallery, located at 926 East Center Street, was a jazz venue operated by Chuck LaPaglia from 1978 to 1984. It featured nightly performances by local and nationally touring jazz artists, including Art Blakey, Ray Brown, Lou Donaldson, Dizzy Gillespie, Dexter Gordon, Barry Harris, Freddie Hubbard, Milt Jackson, Wynton Marsalis, Sun Ra, Max Roach, Horace Silver, Sonny Stitt, McCoy Tyner, and many others. Today, the space is home to the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts (https://jazzgallerycenterforarts.org/), which presents art exhibitions, music performances, and serves as the primary teaching site for the Milwaukee Jazz Institute.
