Bombay Bicycle Club

509 West Wisconsin Avenue

The Bombay Bicycle Club, located inside the Marc Plaza Hotel (previously the Schroeder Hotel and now the Hilton Milwaukee City Center) at 509 West Wisconsin Avenue, was a hotel lounge that featured jazz music. From 1974 until the early 1980s, Buddy Montgomery performed there six nights a week—initially solo and later with groups. The space is now the hotel’s club lounge, but the Bombay Bicycle Club name can still be seen on the floor just before you enter. Before it was the Bombay Bicycle Club, the room was known as the Black Knight Lounge and also featured jazz, including performances by Dick Ruedebusch and his Underprivileged Five.
