LISTENING TO JAZZ: THE LEGACY OF CHARLES MINGUS
WITH PAUL SILBERGLEIT
Experience the intensity and beauty of the classic recordings of Charles Mingus in the company of fellow listeners, with the guidance of MJI’s Paul Silbergleit.
Learn about the artistic output of Charles Mingus (1926-1979), a famously bold and passionate musician who created some of the most fiery, aggressive jazz ever heard as well as some of the prettiest, most lyrical ballad melodies one could imagine. Within the wide arch of his career, he played bass with the bebop greats, took the compositional torch from Duke Ellington, and helped to catalyze the avant-garde.
Cost: $15
