SEVEN SIDES OF A STANDARD—BODY AND SOUL
ONLINE WORKSHOP WITH PAUL SILBERGLEIT
The concept of a “cover song” is moot in the jazz world, where it is understood that artists from across the spectrum will regularly draw upon a common repertoire, while always putting their own stamp on a tune. And few songs are as classic and ubiquitous, and have been played in so many unique ways, as “Body and Soul.” Join MJI’s Paul Silbergleit to explore the monumental statements made by jazz giants from Billie Holiday to John Coltrane on this timeless standard—and to consider what each distinct version shows about the artist and the era from which it came.
Cost: $15
Attendees need to purchase advance tickets.
