MJI YOUTH ENSEMBLE 1 OF 3 FINALISTS IN NYC JAZZ COMPETITION
MJI’s "A" Train Ensemble, a quartet of high school musicians that includes saxophone, piano, bass, and drums has been rehearsing since September to reach this goal! We are excited to have been selected as a finalist in the specialized school category. Top high school students from across the United States will celebrate the music of the great bassist and composer Charles Mingus (1922-1979) as part of the 17th Annual Charles Mingus Festival & High School Competition taking place at The New School of Jazz & Contemporary Music in New York City.
