LISTENING TO JAZZ: THE MUSIC OF BLUE NOTE RECORDS
ONLINE WORKSHOP WITH PAUL SILBERGLEIT
In its heyday of the 1950s and ’60s, the jazz record label Blue Note came to be known as an institution unto itself, releasing an astounding number of classic albums from a plethora of great artists such as Sonny Rollins, Horace Silver, Lee Morgan, Grant Green, and Herbie Hancock. Often thought of as epitomizing the hard bop sub-genre, its output included seminal recordings in the areas of avant-garde and soul jazz as well. The breadth and depth of this catalog will be apparent as MJI’s Paul Silbergleit shares with you some of its highlights.
