Description: Bassist, educator, and author Clay Schaub will teach you the essential aspects of bass playing using his book, Build Walking Bass Lines In 14 Days: Jazz & Blues Bass Lines for Upright and Electric Bass, as the text.
This 7-week course is perfect for beginning and intermediate bassists (or even pianists or organists) looking for a methodical approach to improving their ability to create great-sounding bass lines. Topics will include the blues, how to groove, bass line recipes, scales and chords, common progressions, and fundamental rhythms.
Classes are held online via Zoom. Students will generally be on video and unmuted for class discussions and when asking questions. The syllabus shows which pages in the textbook summarize the content of each session, allowing a student to miss a class due to an unavoidable conflict but not fall behind in the course. We encourage participation, discussion, and an interactive class dynamic.

Once the form is completed, you will receive the syllabus for the course. On the day of the first class, you will receive the Zoom link for the course.
